23-MAN BRAZIL SQUAD FOR RUSSIA

RIO DE JANEIRO- Tite Brazilian national coach surprised a few when he named his 23 man squad for Russia, he included players from Gremio, centre half Pedro Geromel and Corinthians pair Cassio and Fagner.

The three players are the only home based players in the squad, who are one of the favorites to lift the World Cup, after Tite took control, the national side has not lost in 19 games, since 2016.

The only country to win the world cup five times, are in a group that consists Switzerland on June 17 before playing Costa Rica and Serbia in Group E.

Geromel defender from Gremio who has only two caps under his name, had an outstanding performance leading Gremio to win Copa Libertadores last season.

Tite speaking to a pack room of reporters said, “Gremio have played at a high level for the last two years,”

“Geromel has been great during that whole period.”

Dani Alves is injured and Tite selected Fagner of Corinthians and Danilo of Manchester City to replace the Paris St Germain right back and he said they both were up to the task.

Tite said, “Of course we are going to miss him but other paths and opportunities arise,”

“I have the same confidence in them as I had in Dani.”
