27 accused of being part of fake passport syndicate remain behind bars

Johannesburg – Twenty-seven people accused of being part of a fake passport syndicate will remain behind bars, for now.

The suspects appeared at the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

They were arrested in a sting operation at the Krugersdorp Home Affairs office on Friday.

A Pakistani national, believed to be the kingpin, was also arrested.

It is believed the syndicate involves corrupt Home Affairs officials.
