The suspects were arrested after an “intensified operation” between the Hawks, a provincial task team, the police’s tactical response unit and crime intelligence gathering following the heist in Matlala Road early on Monday morning.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said at the time that a group of armed suspects driving in a white Isuzu double cab bakkie and a blue RAV4 in the early hours of the morning, 05:35am, attacked the cash van, fired shots at its wheels until it came to a stop.
Security officers guarding the van were held at gunpoint, explosives were used to blast open the safe.
The armed gang fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
