A young man turned his vegetable business to an evolution

CAPE TOWN – A 29 year old South African Lufefe Nomjana from Khayelitsha turned his business into a revolution. He says that spinach is more than just a green leafy vegetable.

He also went on to say that it is a means to change the health status of the Khayelitsha community.

Nomjana also told news24 that according to a research conducted by the University of Cape Town one out of ten learners in Khayelitsha is obese.

This is due to the fact that they eat fast food a lot, very high meat consumption and high food in fat and sugar.

Since today is World Obesity Day and South Africans should take note on the following: according to the latest research done by the Demographic and Health South Africa has the highest obesity rate for all women in Africa.

The research shows that almost 70% of South African women are either overweight or obese. Nomjana always encourages people to eat more spinach and other vegetables and give up all the fast food and sugary drinks they consume daily. But he also saw that it is not as simple as it seems to him.

People do not eat all the fast food because of personal choices but they do not have access to tasty and nutritious food options that could be offered at affordable prices like fast food.
