JOHANNESBURG- A South African fan jumped the fence at FNB Stadium to get a once in a lifetime opportunity to touch Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
FC Barcelona landed in South Africa on Wednesday morning to play for the Mandela Centenary Cup clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on the same day.
The sold out crowd, 90 000 of them were not left disappointed as Barca outclassed Sundowns, as all the stars were fielded on the special night.
Messi come on the 73rd minute, but minutes before during his warm-up, fan Ruiz de Galarreta saw it was the best opportunity to jump the fence and attempt for a quick embrace. But it was not meant to be as a swarm of security were quick to protect the Argentinian as they charged down the fan and dragged him off the field.
