Ace Ncobo to challenge Jordaan for SAFA presidency

CAPE TOWN- Submissions of a SAFA nominations did close on the 23rd of February, only two nominations were received, as the committee plans to vote on the 23rd of March for a new president and elect new officials.

The nominations were received by KPMG auditors, who have said, a total of 53 nominations were submitted with incumbent SAFA President, Danny Jordaan receiving 52 nominations while former referee, Ace Ncobo received only 1 nomination.

The nominations were sent to SAFA who now have have their electoral process be in the hands of the Electoral Committee, in this case, the Independent Electoral Commission.

The IEC will make an analysis of both candidates, as mandated by the SAFA Electoral Code to determine their compliance in accordance with Article 25 of the SAFA Statutes.

SAFA CEO Dennis Mumble said the process will continue as follows, “We shall thereafter inform all Members of the IEC’s decisions following their background and eligibility checks as required by the SAFA Statutes and SAFA Electoral Code.”
