
Some major airlines are now telling passengers that they are required to wear face masks on flights to limit the spread of viruses. Big US airlines are bringing in new health and safety policies for both passengers and cabin crew.
Many carriers around the world are also making the wearing of masks mandatory for when they restart flights
Although 90% of international flights have been canceled, airlines hope to resume air travel from this month.
US carrier Delta said it required passengers to wear masks or other face-covering In the check-in area, premium lounges, boarding gate areas, and onboard planes for the whole flights from Monday.
American Airlines and United have also said that they will begin requiring masks for passengers, along with cabin crew. The carriers did say that these are only temporary measures as they slowly resume flights.
“We are looking out for our customers’ well-being to give them peace of mind while they travel with us,” said Kurt Stache, spokesperson for American Airlines.
