Kaizer Chiefs are set to miss out on the signature of South African under-23 star Thabo Cele.
Cele emerged as one of Kaizer Chiefs’ transfer targets, however, the free agent has reportedly decided on his next destination and it isn’t Naturena.
Cele underwent a trial at Polish club Radomiak Radom last month but a deal could not be reached at the time with the club claiming his agent demanded excessively high commission fees. But the situation abroad seems to have taken a twist.
“Thabo Cele is very close to seeing his future resolved. The South African midfielder, ex-Cova da Piedade, is very close to signing for Radomiak, from Poland, where Tiago Matos, former FC Porto player, plays.” Portuguese publication Record confirmed regarding the Kaizer Chiefs target.
“Without a club since leaving Portugal, Thabo Cele has always attracted interest, but the proposal he had been waiting for has now emerged. The transfer is subject to the agreement of personal terms, but should arrive in the next few hours.”
Chiefs are set to miss out on the highly talented midfielder. Cele had reportedly opted to join the Glamour Boys if he couldn’t secure a European move.
“Apart from Kaizer Chiefs, clubs such as Maritzburg United, AmaZulu Cape Town City and TS Galaxy were understood to be looking into the midfielder.” IdiskiTimes reported last month.
“However, this publication has picked it up from people close to his camp that it is just a matter of time before he makes his way to Naturena (Kaizer Chiefs), as this was his preferred destination after the overseas moves failed to materialise after the Olympics.”
