ANC employees to picket over unpaid salaries on Monday

Johannesburg – A group of disgruntled African National Congress (ANC) staff members are planning to picket outside the party’s headquarters and provincial offices over non-payment of salaries.

They suspended their salary strike in September to focus on winning the local government elections.

“We are back here today because those undertakings were not honoured,” chairperson of the ANC staff representative committee Mvusi Mdala said.

“It’s not the first time that they make undertakings and then they are not honoured. To our surprise, last week Friday our medical aids were suspended.

“When we talk of non-payment, we are talking about three months by the end of November, it will be the fourth month without salaries. We’re [also] talking about medical aid that has currently been suspended with our members in some very difficult situations as they depend on that. We are talking about the provident fund which has not been paid since November 2018 and UIF, those conditions we find ourselves in and then the management is not honouring any undertaking,” he said.
