ANC TOP COMMITTEE MEET IN IRENE

IRENE- The ANC NEC met on Sunday after it was confirmed on Friday that they will meet for the first time after Jacob Zuma resigned.

ANC secretary general Ace Magashule did address the media after the meeting, as the committee addressed many issues.

One of them was shooting down rumors that ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member Senzo Mchunu would be in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Cabinet, saying Mchunu will be working in a full time post for the party.

The NEC meeting took place in Irene on Sunday there was wide speculation that Mchunu, a former KwaZulu-Natal chairperson, was pivoted to be the next state security ministry.

Addressing the speculation, Magashule said, “Senzo will be chairing organising full time as well as Legoete.”

Mchunu was a outspoken supporter for Ramaphosa during the ANC presidential elections.

Magashule did say that the meeting was to address a way forward towards the 2019 elections and who Ramaphosa wanted to take over the state deputy president position.

He said, “The president will discuss with us and various structures and alliance partners. It’s not a matter for the NEC. We will be engaging ourselves (top 6) on the Cabinet reshuffle,

“No one has done what DD managed in Mpumalanga. He consolidated the province and with him, we can get a two-thirds majority in 2019. He is a crowd puller and no one can compare with him. It’s unanimous. Any other dissenting voice is baseless.”
