Cape Town – Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Defence has summoned Minister of Defence Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to give answers on the trip to Zimbabwe.
The committee has agreed to a Democratic Alliance (DA) request to have Mapisa-Nqakula account for the ANC’s use of an airforce jet.
The DA wants her to explain why she allowed the flight to Zimbabwe and whether Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula had granted the delegation permission to travel, during the lockdown.
The ANC is to reimburse the state for the cost of the flight and President Cyril Ramaphosa has reprimanded Mapisa-Nqakula.
