Armed gang storms Somerset Park home

DURBAN – A gang of five men robbed a Somerset Park home on Midsomer Crescent on Saturday afternoon . The gang derailed the driveway gate to gain access to the home, that is according to the police. The homeowner, who was at home at the time, heard a noise and opened the front door to investigate and was confronted by an armed suspect.

“As she opened the door one of the suspects confronted her by pointing a firearm at her demanding that she open the security gate. The suspects then entered and ransacked the entire house taking along the safe and other valuables,” said Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security.

The gang was seen fleeing the scene in a black luxury sedan type vehicle.

This armed home invasion was the fourth reported in seven days in the North Durban area. Two of the most serious incidents took place on Thursday last week where a Sunningdale homeowner was stabbed five times by a suspect in a robbery. A couple of hours later an 81 year old man was pistol whipped by armed suspects in a robbery on Edgeley Road.
