DURBAN – There has been a major breakthrough in the murder of 20 year old Siam Lee. A suspect has been arrested and a car that Lee allegedly got into when she was last seen in Durban North three weeks ago has been recovered. The arrest was confirmed by police spokesperson Thulani Zwane but no further information could be provided.
The burned body of Siam Lee was found on a farm in New Hanover by a farmer just two days after her disappearance, although the body was only identified as being her by relatives five days later.
Police put out an identikit of the man who was said to be driving a Mercedes Benz Vito, after her disappearance. A suspect was apparently arrested in the Hillcrest Assagay area on Wednesday night, that is according to information on a “closed” police WhatsApp group.
The information states that the car, an unlicensed 9mm pistol and his personal cell-phone with the particulars of the deceased were found.
“He has made an admission to the case,” it reads
“We are still busy with the provincial local criminal records centre in his house… possible blood stains were found in the house for DNA.”
The vehicle the suspect was found in has been taken for forensic testing.
