
Cape Town- Residents at Atlantis in Cape Town are hoping that the rollout of renewable energy manufacturing precinct will mark a stark difference on their lives.
President Cyril Ramaphosa launched the Atlantis Special Economic Zone, it is along the West Coast on Thursday. The initiative is focusing on green technologies, alternative waste management and energy efficient technology.
The special economic zone was chosen because it is near to Cape Town’s port entry, raw materials and similar industries.
In the coastal town, approximately 70 000 people live in the area.

Many welcomed the new initiative, “I feel like crying, I’m excited,” one resident said.
Another resident said she hopes the development will change the community for good.
Ramaphosa said the government sees these economic hubs as one of the vehicles to reduce unemployment.
“The Atlantis Special Economic Zone is an integral part of our effort to reignite economic growth.”
