Johannesburg – South Africa’s illicit tobacco trade has surged to unprecedented levels.
That is according to British American Tobacco’s general manager Johnny Moloto.
Moloto said manufacturers are flooding shops across the country with untaxed cigarettes.
Meanwhile, according to an Ipsos survey, government’s lifting of the cigarette sales ban about a year-and-a-half ago has done little to curb the increase in illegal trade.
