Black Business Council to meet with Reserve Bank over Pityana claims

Johannesburg – The Black Business Council has confirmed a meeting with the Reserve Bank in two weeks to discuss the bank’s role in the Absa chairmanship appointment.

The council wants answers from the banking regulator over accusations made by Sipho Pityana about being blocked from taking the opposition.

Pityana earlier this week accused the Reserve Bank’s Prudential Authority of unlawfully blocking his appointment.

The authority approves nominations for board appointments and determines whether candidates are fit and proper.

The council says while it congratulates Sello Moloko  on his appointment as chair of Absa, it wants to fully understand what happened.
