Botswana- Botswana’s newly appointed 30 year old minister Bogolo Joy Kenewendo is being celebrated on social media by many Africans across the continent, who have said her appointment despite her age is a rare feat that needs to be replicated in Africa.
The 30 year old was amongst the many ministers appointed by Botswana new president Mokgweetsi Masisi, who in his inaugural address promised to invest in the youth and create job opportunities for the unemployed.
Her appointment is becoming the new Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, the youngest ever minister.
Two years before she was appointed by former president Ian Khama as a member of parliament.
Social media celebrated her appointment simply because of her youth but some cautioned Kenewendo is no stranger to the portfolio she has been tasked to manage.
She worked as a trade economist in the Ministry of Trade and Industry in the Government of Ghana.
