BREAKING NEWS: GOVT DECLARES STATE DISASTER TO DEAL WITH DROUGHT CRISIS

CAPE TOWN- National government has declared a national state of disaster to deal with the country’s drought crisis.

The Inter-Ministerial Task Team on Drought and Water Scarcity made the announcement at Parliament early on Tuesday morning.

The outlined Budget Speech for 2018/2019, the government budgeted R6-8 billion to deal with the drought relief.

Cooperative Governance Minister Zweli Mkhize says that a extensive process will be done to allocate drought relief funds.

Mhkize added that the government are fully focused on insuring that communities do not run out of water or the taps run dry.

He said the Day Zero concept will not be followed by national government as see in the Western Province.

The declaration of state disaster lasts for three months.
