JOHANNESBURG- SA Express on Thursday had its operating licence suspended by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
The airline also had its Aircraft Maintenance Organisation (AMO) approvals suspended as well as its Certificates of Airworthiness (CoA) on nine of its 21 planes.
SACCA explained that the decision was taken to revoke the permits after it conducted an audit of the airline and their maintenance over the past couple of days.
During their audit they found severe cases of non-compliance, that they deemed were severe safety risks.
This meant that SA Express could no longer continue their operating as an airline.
SA Express can only operate again if they reapply and be issued with relevant approvals.
