Brickz sentencing procedures resume

JOHANNESBURG – Kwaito star Sipho “Brickz” Ndlovu who was convicted for raping a 17-year-old relative in July 2013 is set to appear at the Roodepoort magistrate’s court on Tuesday.

Brickz was denied bail and his hearing proceedings have been conducted whilst he remained behind bars.

Although Brickz tried to defend himself by saying it was consensual and that his wife was hitting back at him, the judge still denied him bail.

Brickz sentencing has been postponed for several times with new witnesses and excuses emerging on the day of his sentencing.

The “Sweety my baby” hitmaker allegedly raped his own 17-year old relative at his home in Ruimsig, west of Johannesburg.

It is reported the victim, who is now 22, tried to commit suicide after she was raped by someone she trusted and also loved.

The kwaito star is set to get his final verdict today and the event is set to be broadcasted live on DSTV amongst other channels.

As much as the State vies for a lengthy sentence for what it calls a heinous crime by the kwaito star, the defense feels Ndlovu deserves a lenient sentence.

According to the state, they want to use the kwaito star as an example to what happens when one rapes someone.
