JOHANNESBURG – Cell C has signed a deal with US firm Fox Networks Group, with the intention of adding more video content to the mobile network operator’s entertainment platform.
During this week, the network provider entered the highly competitive market of video-streaming, which was done through the launch of their video-streaming platform called “black”.
The network provider has partnered with Fox Networks Group Europe and Africa, which will result in Fox Sports and National Geographic added to Black’s content portfolio. Cell C’s video streaming app will be the first in the country to air FOX+, the new service from the Fox Networks Group.
Black is beaming of new and improved features as compared to other video-streaming. The app will give customers a diverse suite of content including renting and buying the latest movies, gaming and live television channels.
Their data bundles packages now allow customers to select an option to purchase 1GB of data from as little as R7.50. “The cost of data has often been cited as a barrier to entry for customers wanting to stream or download content using their mobile data,” said Jose Dos Santos, Cell C’s CEO.
“The black data products will address this challenge.”
