
According to a statement issued by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) the charges that were laid against an Eastern Cape woman who stabbed and killed a man that allegedly raped her daughter have been dropped.
This follows after this woman stabbed and killed one man and injured 2 others after she found them raping her 27-year old daughter.
This mother appeared in the Lady Frere Magistrate Court where these charges were withdrawn formally. According to the statement the senior public prosecutor made a decision not to prosecute the mother.
This mother was arrested at the beginning of September this year for murder and two counts of attempted murder. She was later released on bail. Her bail was R500.
South Africans have been supporting this mother, who cannot be named due to the fact that they want to protect the identity of her daughter.
A Cape Town resident Natalie Kendrick went to start a fundraiser online to support this mother with her legal fees.
This fundraiser did not only support the mother’s legal fees but also counseling fees. This campaign is called #LionMama or mother lioness.
