CAPE TOWN- COSATU and SACP have demanded Ramaphosa to be decisive in finalising talks with President Jacob Zuma and make sure that the president is not president by the end of weekend.
On Thursday the ANC had cancelled Ramaphosa’s engagements for two days, cancelling their engagements with Jacob Zuma is as sign that pressure is being applied to get a deal done.
SACP’s Solly Mapaila wants Ramaphosa to act now, he said, “We would have loved him to be gone already. For us, even the end of the weekend is too far. We hope that in the next two days or so they should be able to make an announcement.”
Cosatu’s Sizwe Pamla says the tripartite alliance is giving Ramaphosa until the end of the weekend to complete this, “”For us, we do not want we do not want this weekend to end with President Jacob Zuma still at the helm.”
The ANC has a hectic schedule coming up this weekend as it continues to face questions of the removal of Jacob Zuma. On the table for Friday is it’s top leaders, except Ramaphosa and Gwede Mantashe, will participate in activities in the Western Cape as the party prepares to launch its celebrations of the centennial year in honour of late former President Nelson Mandela.
