Covid-19 in SA: Will mask-wearing be scrapped?

Johannesburg – All indications are that we could soon see the lifting of remaining Covid-19 regulations.

The National Coronavirus Command Council is meeting on Wednesday and the mask-wearing mandate is expected to be up for discussion.

A leaked memo that Health Minister Joe Phaahla sent to MEC suggests the country has exited the fifth Covid-19 wave and government should consider ending restrictions.

Meanwhile, Naptosa’s Basil Manuel is welcoming proposals to scrap the wearing of masks at schools.

Manuel said it has been difficult for pupils to adhere to mask-wearing and those who wish to continue wearing them, can do so.
