JOHANNESBURG- Prosecutions boss Shaun Abraham’s set himself a deadline regarding whether the national prosecution authority will reinstate Jacob Zuma’s  783 corruption chargers, the deadline was set for Friday on midnight.

First Shaun Abraham’s gave Zuma and the Democratic Alliance until 30 November 201 to submit any further presentations on whether or not to prosecute Zuma.

The deadline was then further extended to January 31 this year, documents were handed over hours before the deadline closed.

The Supreme Court of Appeal found in October that the NPA had to reinstate charges against Zuma, setting aside the decision made by the NPA not to continue with the prosecution of Jacob Zuma in April 2009.

The prosecution team asked for a recommendation on whether the prosecution should continue with the KwaZulu Natal director of public prosecutions advocate Moipone Noko and give Abraham’s until 23rd of February to decide on this recommendation.

Abraham’s confirmed that he did receive the recommendation but will announce his decision in future.

NPA spokesman Luvuyo Mfaku said it was not necessary for them to make this part of the process transparent, “The only time you will hear from us will be an announcement from (Abrahams) on when he will make his decision.”
