Johannesburg – The Department of Water and Sanitation continues to lag in paying its suppliers.
The Public Service Commission has warned the government that non-payment could lead to costly litigation.
PSC Commissioner Anele Gxoyiya issued a warning while delivering the Pulse of the PSC quarterly report for the last three months of 2021.
Gxoyiya reiterated that government departments are to settle all contractual obligations within the prescribed 30 days from receipt of an invoice.
He said late or non-payment of invoices has dire consequences for both small business and the government.
