JOHANNESBURG – A popular club DJ in Thembisa, DJ Khomza who faces charges for assaulting his girlfriend with a spanner has been denied bail.
It is reported that the incident happened at an Engen garage where DJ Khomza got into a heated argument with his girlfriend before assaulting her.
DJ Khomza, real name Khombela Nthleko was arrested on Sunday night after his assault video went viral on social media.
The DJ is charged for assaulting his girlfriend with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The cruelty of the video has caused public unrest as many people are calling for harsher punishments for anyone who abuses women.
It is also evident from the video that two man tried to stop the DJ from assaulting his girlfriend but to no avail.
The victim’s best friend, Thandeka Ndex Ndlovu also took to social media to express her anger about women abuse.
“My friend has been assaulted for the longest of time and has kept quiet because she thought that things would change or get better but this is what it got to. She is now lying in a hospital bed” she wrote.
Thandeka has also confirmed that the popular club DJ is behind bars and hopes that justice will be served accordingly.
