Eskom Officially Suspends Its CFO

Johannesburg – Eskom has officially suspended its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Anoj Singh. According to the statement issued by Eskom Mr Singh is not only suspended but he is also facing disciplinary hearing.

This follows after the allegations that he was involved in irregularly giving contracts to the Gupta family linked businesses. It is said that this also happened while he was also receiving gifts and trips from the Gupta family. Singh was placed on a special leave by at the end of July this year by Eskom’s board of directors until an ongoing investigation to this allegations were concluded.

According to the News24 website that the CFO’s special leave was brought on by the Minister of Finance Melusi Gigaba and Public Enterprise Minister Lynne Brown. This was followed by a threat by Development Bank of SA (DBSA) saying it will retract its R150 billion loan if the officials did not take steps against Singh. The statement released by Eskom went to state that both Mr Singh and Koko will be face a fair disciplinary hearing processes.

Mr Koko who acted in the Eskom’s former CEO Brian Molefe’s position for a few months was placed on a special leave pending an investigation.
