JOHANNESBURG- Former minister of sports and police Fikile Mbalula was part of the panel in Comdey Central’s Roast of Somizi Mhlongo.
Mbalula took a fair amount of shots and jokes about being “jobless” and his alleged links to the Gupta family.
He said he would not mind taking on Julius Malema, speaking to TshiaLIVE on the red carpet before the roast last week, he said, he would not mind taking on another politician such as Julius Malema, that would be his choice to roast.
When asked why he was the number one target by the panel during the roast, he said it was because he was a politician.
He said, “Being a politician‚ you wouldn’t find us in spaces like this. You wouldn’t under normal circumstances have someone from my background coming for stuff like this because politicians are too allergic. So everything‚ even if it is humour‚ to them is serious.”
He added, “Julius Malema. It’s a challenge to him. But look‚ I know he can take it. He’s a man of humour‚ so I know he can take it. Other guys‚ I don’t see anybody who can.”
