Lucara Diamond Corporation is a multi billionaire diamond mining company. The company has one of its mines In Botswana where they found the world’s second largest rough diamond. The large precious stone is the size of a tennis ball and is 1,109 carat. The diamond was named Lesedi La Rona. Due to the size of the precious stone Lucara Diamond Corporation experienced difficulties in the selling of the precious stone. But recently Graff Diamonds bought the largest chunk of the rough precious stone for $53 million. Graff Diamond bought 373.7 carat of the rough diamond which was broken off the Lesedi La Rona when it was mined by the Canada Lucara at its Karowe mine.
The diamond polishing and cutting company, Graff Diamond is now the proud and happy owners of the second largest diamond in the world. There are still not sure what to do with it and have invested in studies that will determine how best to cut and polish it into fine diamonds.
Diamond mining companies are still hard at work in their mines hoping to find tennis sized diamonds or even bigger diamonds.
