Former Sundowns winger closing in on SuperSport United move

Another former Mamelodi Sundowns player is set to join SuperSport United after impressing while on trial with the team over the past weeks.

According to SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews, the club wants to sign Aubrey Ngoma, and he expects to finalise terms next week.

“We want to try to bring him in. So, we hope to finalise terms in the next week,” said Matthews.

Ngoba has been training with SuperSport United since the start of 2022 as he looks to resurrect his football career.

The left-footer hasn’t had a team since parting ways with Sundowns soon after the start of the 2021-22 PSL season. However, he could not join any team outside of the transfer window after leaving Sundowns as the rules didn’t allow him.

This comes after he had spent half-a-season on loan at Cape Town City who signed him from Mamelodi Sundowns.

At one point, City were keen to sign on a permanent deal but they let go of the idea because of the money they had to part with to acquire him.

When he returned to parent club Sundowns, Ngoma was deemed surplus to requirements and he had to fight to get his clearance from the club.

Ngoma would spend months in the wilderness, only to resurface at SuperSport United who gave him a chance to redeem to himself in January.
