
PRETORIA- The General Council of the Bar has confirmed that it will appeal the Supreme Court of Appeal’s decision related to deputy prosecutions boss Nomgcobo Jiba.
The Bloemfontein supreme court set aside the High Court’s decision to strike Jiba and National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) advocate Lawrence Mrwebi from the roll of advocates last week.
Jiba and Mrwebi were criticized for their handling of the case against former head of Crime Intelligence, Richard Mdluli.
After a general meeting on Saturday the General Council of bar said they decided to appeal the ruling of Jiba’s reinstatement.

They added that they debated the issue extensively and that different views were expressed on whether or not they should appeal the judgement.
18 members voted in favor of an appeal, 12 others voted against the appeal and two members abstained. The board did not give any details on how they will approach the Constitutional Court,
