Hawks bust a man with R5.2 Million worth of drugs

JOHANNESBURG- The Hawks have arrested a 41 year old man for drug possession after heroin estimated value of R5.2m was found in a car that he was driving, the Hawks confirmed the arrest on Thursday.

Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu said the man was arrested¬†in Roodepoort by the Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (Saneb).

Mulamu said, “The members were on the beat on an unrelated investigation when they observed a suspect hastily getting out of a vehicle that had just parked at the Florida Junction parking lot.¬† The same suspect got into a different vehicle and drove off,” he said.

This raised suspicion from the members of Saneb.

He added, “They immediately pursued the said vehicle and intercepted it shortly afterwards. A search of the said vehicle resulted in the recovery of drugs believed to be heroin concealed inside boxes.”

The suspect was arrested immediately with both vehicles compounded, as further investiagtions are to take place.

Mulamu concluded that the suspect will appear at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
