
DURBAN – The Hawks have nabbed a group of four alleged drug dealers and nearly a million rand worth of drugs.
This took place after conducting two separate busts in KwaZulu- Natal, the Hawks confirmed on Monday.
Authorities confiscated R500 000 worth of drug tablets in Unit 2 in Phoenix, North of Durban on Friday, said the spokesperson of the Hawks, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo.
The spokesperson says 44 year old Feroz Khan and 31 year old Leornard Munsami were arrested for dealing in drugs.
The Hawks also found one kilogram of cocaine, 50 pieces of crack cocaine, 1000 mandrax tablets and 550 ecstasy tablets to the street value of approximately R500 000, when they were searching the house.
The two men made an appearance in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Khan has to cough up R40 000 while Munsami was granted bail of R30 000. The case was adjourned to 31st January 2018.
In another incident on Thursday, Zander Steyn, 27 and 38 year old Simone Turkington were arrested for cultivating and dealing in dagga in Camperdown near Pietermaritzburg. “Members seized dagga plants, magic mushrooms, a large quantity of dagga oil and equipment used to process dagga. The street value of the seized items is approximately R450 000,”said Mhlongo.
The two made a brief appearance in the Camperdown Magistrate’s Court, where Turkington was released on bail while Steyn remains in custody.
