WELLINGTON- The Hurricanes stumbled and fumbled their way to victory over the Reds in their Super Rugby clash in Wellington on Friday.
The Hurricanes were expected to win the game by a wide margin but were made to fight for it, after they led 24-20 at halftime and won the game 38-34 win.
Hurricanes were helped by flyhalf Beauden Barrett, wing Ben Lam (2), No 8 Blade Thomson and lock Sam Lousi. Barrett was also on target with all five conversions and a penalty for a personal haul of 18 points.
The Reds were a much improved side after their hammering against Sunwolves, losing 68-28. But they were unlucky to not win, after scoring four tries from prop Taniela Tupou, wings Filipo Daugunu and Jordan Petaia and centre Samu Kerevi.
Flyhalf Jono Lance scored all four conversions and two penalties, on what was an overall good night for the kickers.
