Idols SA finalist to appear in court

JOHANNESBURG – Idols finalist Mthokozisi Ndaba is set to appear before the Hillbrow Magistrates Court today for assault charges.

The charismatic singer who became the runner-up to winner Paxton Fielies in this year’s Idols edition was arrested last week and released on warning for allegedly assaulting a 21-year-old Neo Tsele, police confirmed.

It is reported Ndaba assaulted Tsele with his fists and slammed her onto a wall at a Braamfontein apartment, breaking her tooth in the process. Tsele reported the case to the police and her bruised images went viral on social media causing widespread uproar against women abuse.

Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, a spokesperson for the police at the Hillbrow Police Station, confirmed that Ndaba will appear in court for the first time on Monday where his verdict will be decided.

“We arrested the suspect on Thursday and he was only released in the early hours of the morning on Friday, we have made investigations and already made progress on the case,” said Zondo.

Ndaba said he takes full responsibility for the case and urged his fans to take a stand against violence against women and children abuse.

“Good day Mzansi Africa, In light of the current allegations and a case opened against me, I have returned to Joburg again to co-orperate with the police regarding the matter. In as much as this has affected Me, the craft God Blessed me with, the family, friends & fans negatively but let us please let our SA law to handle the matter rightfully.

I plead with TeamMthokozisi & everyone to not attack the complainant on social media. We do not know what issues she may be dealing with. Please Mzansi. Let us continue taking a stand against violence on women and children. I love you all!” he posted on his Instagram.
