Japan rains disaster toll rises to 199, says government

TOKYO- A government official has said the death toll in the flood disaster has increased to 199, with several still missing.

Yoshihide Suga said the operations were continuing after the worst weather disaster in the past three decades.

Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the worst hit region on Wednesday and he plans on Friday to visit another badly hit regions,, that suffered from flooding and landslides.

10 000 people have been evacuated from their homes and are now living shelters.

Abe said in a meeting, “We will do everything we can so that people will not have to continue living in uncomfortable situations in shelters.”
