
JOHANNESBURG- State owned enterprise Eskom has announced that they will be implementing stage 1 load shedding on Friday night.
Eskom said the reason for this was because the ongoing disruptions by workers who have gone on strike.
Eskom spokesperson, Khulu Phasiwe said, “There have been a number of units that just broke down. As a result, Eskom was left with no option than to implement stage one of load shedding. In the meantime, management and technicians are trying to evaluate the situation to try and understand what’s happened.”
“The reason for this is that there have been a number of power generating units that have broken down. We are in the process of assessing what the cause of this breakdown is. But unfortunately, we have implemented stage 1 load shedding.”
Eskom said earlier that some of their workers had been intimated as striking workers demand 15% increase in wages.
