LOS ANGELES – Comedian and actor Kevin Hart has stepped down as host of the 2019 Oscars.
Hart made the announcement on Twitter on Thursday after his past anti-gay comments resurfaced.
He Tweeted:
I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.

Hart announced on Wednesday that he will be hosting the 2019 Academy Awards but on Thursday he said on Instagram, that the Academy gave him a ultimatum for him to apologize for comments that were anti gay over a decade ago.
