Kopanong miners halt underground sit-in, protest continues

Johannesburg – Hundreds of workers at Kopanong Mine in Klerksdorp have halted their underground sit-in.

But their protest continues.

The miners accuse Village Mine Reef of stopping their pension contributions to the mineworkers’ provident fund.

The workers say despite this, the money is still being deducted from their salaries.

The National Union of Mineworkers will meet with its members to discuss the way forward.
