CAPE TOWN- ANC has given President Jacob Zuma 48 hours to resign, as the party still has removed the president.
Earlier it had been reported that Zuma was being recalled by the party as he refused to resign. The NEC has now decided to give him 48 hours to resign, as the party wants to avoid what happened to Thabo Mbeki when he was recalled.
The ANC is reported to give more details on the marathon meetings.
The briefing is to take place today, as it will discuss the outcome of the national executive meeting that took place on Monday. The meeting which lasted over thirteen hours has decided to recall Zuma.
EWN is now reporting that both Ramaphosa and party secretary general Ace Magashule – who drove to Zuma’s official residence in Pretoria to break the news to him – “you can do what you want to do.”
The briefing has been moved from midday to 2pm at ANC headquarters in Albert Luthuli House, Johannesburg.
