LATEST- Sassa Cancels Tender for Cash payment Provider

CAPE TOWN- The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa)’s attempt to find a service provider to pay recipients who receive their grants in cash has hit yet another stumbling block.

The agency announced their decision on Tuesday afternoon to completely cancel the tender which it had earlier put on hold to review the process in the wake of a legal challenge.

Eyewitness News is exclusively reporting that Social Development Minister Susan Shabangu confirmed during an interview in Parliament on Tuesday the tender has now been cancelled completely.

Minsiter Shabangu said in papers filed with the Constitutional Court, that the tender process had been cancelled, this is when she decided to establish a technical committee.

This committee has to recommend to her alternatives to the cash payments of social grants.

The Constitutional Court has ordered for the contract to be cancelled by September 2018.
