JOHANNESBURG- The Hawks conducted a raid at the Gupta compound earlier this morning and the latest developments are that the Hawks have arrested three people.
“So far three people have been arrested and two other suspects are expected to hand themselves over to the Hawks,” spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.
“Operations are still ongoing and further details will be made available at a later stage.”
The Hawks have revealed the raid is in connection with the Estina Farm investigation but did not say if they were arrested at the compound.
Spokesperson for he Hawks Hangwani Mulaudzi reiterated that the are conducting a serious investigation, “The Hawks’ Serious Corruption Crime Unit is currently conducting ongoing operations at various addresses in Gauteng, including a residential premises in Saxonwold near Johannesburg,” said Mulaudzi.
The Gupta family is alleged that they illegal benefited from the R30 Million that was meant to benefit 200 black farmers in the Estina Farm project.
The funds were allegedly bankrolled into funding the Gupta wedding, which was a lavish event at Sun City.
The wedding was covered in controversy, as the Gupta family and their guests landed at a national key point in Waterfall Pretoria.
