
JOHANNESBURG- The Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU) have confirmed that they are investigating the alleged racist attack that occurred during a game in Johannesburg last week.
The alleged racist incident took place at the Under 21 match between the Wanderers and Roodepoort rugby clubs on April 25.
A statement was released by Wanderers, claimed that that racial and verbal abuse was directed towards their players by Roodepoort spectators and players.
They claim that their players were also physically assaulted and called the k-word.
The GLRU confirmed on Wednesday they are investigating the matter and the disciplinary committee will handled the matter.
The GLRU is aware of the alleged incident that happened at a recent club game. Statements have been received from the clubs and referee. The DC, consisting of independent lawyers, will investigate the incident after which the union will issue a formal statement.
