Mahachi to become a Buccaneer next season

CAPE TOWN – Zimbabwe winger Kudakwashe Mahachi has made confirmation that he will join Orlando Pirates next season from Absa Premiership rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. He is currently on loan at Golden Arrows, where he has spent the last two and a half seasons after struggling to break into the Brazilians’ set up.

The media had speculated that Mahachi could make a move to Mayfair during the January transfer window, but he insists he’ll remain with Clinton Larsen’s side until the end of the campaign.

“It’s true that I’m leaving Arrows for Pirates at the end of the season,” the 24-year old said.

“It doesn’t matter now whether or not I still wanted to stay at Arrows because this was discussed at a higher level.

“The two teams discussed everything, and I was only told what will happen. Pirates bought me (from Mamelodi Sundows). I will leave (Arrows) at the end of the current season.”

Mahachi also added that the good relationship he has with Pirate’s assistant coach Rhulani Mokwena boded well for his future. “My situation is different because it’s Rhulani (Mokwena) who wanted me,” Mahachi said.

“I know that because even in Sundowns, he was always fighting for me to be given the opportunity,”
