JOHANNESBURG – Minister of Small Business Development, Ms. Lindiwe Zulu, who just returned from China says her visit was fruitful and also eye-opening.

Zulu led a delegation of small business enterprises to attend this year’s China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF) which took place from the 10th of October to the 13th of October.

Zulu says her trip to China was largely to encourage her Chinese counterparts and businesses to consider investments and equally to open markets to South Africa’s small and medium businesses.

She says although no formal agreements have been made, she is confident that her meetings with Chinese counterparts were fruitful and that they will consider her offer.

According to Zulu, partnerships with Chinese businesses will benefit small-business enterprises in South Africa in un-locking global market trends.

Minister Zulu has promised that her office will do everything in power to facilitate market access to small businesses in South Africa to ensure a sustainable economic growth.

Zulu believes that investing in small businesses is key in responding to many socio-economic challenges that affect all South Africans.

“Small businesses are the heartbeat of our economy and engine for economic growth and job creation.” She said.

Minister Zulu was accompanied by the MEC for Finance, Ms. Wendy Nelson and Dr. Ben Malakoane amongst other delegates.
