CAPE TOWN – Head coach of Orlando Pirates Milutin Sredojevic has insisted that he is not prepare to lose the ever versatile Abbubaker Mobara to struggling league champions Bidvest Wits. There has been speculations linked Mobara with the students, in a swap deal that involves Xola Mlambo. The coach has rubbished this.
Mobara was subject to speculation in the current window as Wits coach Gavin Hunt searched for a utility player as the team is trying to climb out of the relegation dog-light.
“Mobara is deputy captain in the team and he’s important for us,” Sredojevic was quoted saying when asked about it. Mobara was very central to the Bnuccaneers’ recent 3-1 victory over league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns this past Saturday.
Mobara, 23, joined Pirates at the beginning of last season. Despite the poor form of the club in his first campaign, he did enough to make a good impression on fans, who called for him to be given the captain’s armband.
The captaincy was, however, given to Thabo Matlaba. Moraba was made deputy captain to highlight how important he is to the club
