Durban – Several organisations are calling on police to drop all charges against uMthwalume activist, Hlengiwe Gasa.
Gasa is appearing in court today.
This follows her arrest for leading a march with about a hundred women protesting the killing of women and children in the area.
Right2know says it cannot afford to remain silent.
Meanwhile the Abahlali baseMjondolo Women’s League says it’s also standing in solidarity with Gasa.
The organisations want police to be held accountable for using tear gas on protesters and arresting the activist.
