Uganda – On Monday Ugandan President Yuweri Museveni is expected to present a timeline for the coronavirus lockdown period and whether he should extend it or end it on Tuesday.

On his official Twitter account, the president posted that “I will address the country tonight at 8pm, guiding on the way forward as the 21-day lockdown extension comes to a close tomorrow. I urge you all to continue observing the guidelines from our health experts as the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic continues.”

The president also thanked health workers in Uganda, saying he was proud of them. He also thanked the media for the job they have done.

At the weekend, Museveni was advised by the national task force on Covid-19 to extend the lockdown by two more weeks in order to allow the conclusion of the community testing survey.
