New Acting SARS Commissioner announced

JOHANNESBURG- SARS has announced an acting commissioner after president Cyril Ramaphosa announced that Tom Moyane will be suspended with immediate affect.

Mark Kingon has been selected as acting SARS commissioner the National Treasury confirmed.

The statement said, “He has been with SARS since its establishment and worked his way through the ranks to become the Group Executive: Relationship Management within Business and Individual Taxes,”

Kingon has a long history with SARS with 34 years of experience within the company.

Last week he was announced as the acting Chief officer for Business and Individual Taxes after Jonas Makwakwa resignation.

He resume also includes being in SARS enforcement and legal departments.

The statement released by the presidency Ramaphosa told Moyane that developments at the revenue service under his leadership had caused “a deterioration in public confidence in the institution and in public finances being compromised”.
